In the far western reaches of Ethiopia, mere kilometers from the South Sudanese border, lies the dense, wildly sprouting jungles of the West Omo zone. It’s a place of stunning natural beauty, where from a high-extending plateau one can take in the expanse of the ancient, sprawling forest.
This breathtaking landscape is home to Gesha Village Coffee Estate, the 471-hectare coffee farm that was built from the ground up over the last eleven years. This has been a labor of love, and the Overton’s are extremely proud to be producing coffees as awe-inspiring as their surroundings.
This Geisha was picked at its ripest stage, then de-pulped, and fermented with ‘mosto’, the juice that comes from the previous fermentation. It contains coffee pulp and skin enzymes. After fermentation, the coffee is dried under shade on African raised beds between 26 to 30 days.
Adding ‘mosto’ to the anaerobic honey-processed Geisha creates rich, orange-tone spectrums, with notes of juicy tangerine, then transform into a sweet, ripe peach, with an elegant aroma of jasmine.
