Janson Geisha Washed lot 524

The Janson coffee farm is run by the first and second generation of the Janson family members. Constantly focusing on improving quality, they have earned several awards with their coffee always being among the best on the semifinal and final tables of the Best of Panama. Their natural lot geisha from Los Alpes took second place in the Best of Panama in 2019 with an average score of 94.

This particular lot comes from separating the main washed lot (fermented in outdoor tanks for 48 hours, then pulped and washed of all mucilage) and putting it into the dryers in an isolated house next to the beneficio. After that, the lot is sun-dried for 1 day and then dried with Janson X for 8 days.

The Janson X project began in 2018 when Ben Morrow first met Kai at a trade show in Dubai. After some debate about what would be more important: threshing or drying, a friendship was formed with a need to find out the answer. The Janson X project is simply about trying to quantify these differences in custom-built dehydrators that can dry coffee quickly under cooler conditions than average harvest norms.

This Geisha has a bright and clean acidity like Sunkist Orange, with a complex tea-like experience of Oolong and lingering Jasmine tea in the end.
